FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

The questions owners ask before they call. If yours is not here, just call us.

What is your training methodology?

Marker-driven and balanced. We use three markers (good, no, yes) as the baseboard for clear communication. We build engagement (the dog's focus on the handler and willingness to work) before pushing on obedience. Then we proof every behavior in real environments. Tools, food, leash, and ecollar where age-appropriate, are matched to the dog and the goal.

How does the board and train work?

Five days a week, two structured sessions a day at our Upland facility. Andrew runs every session personally. The 4-week program ($3,800) includes three private owner follow-up sessions. The 8-week program ($6,400) is the same curriculum with more reps and more public proofing, plus six private follow-ups.

What does the price include?

For the board and train programs: boarding, all training sessions, and the owner follow-up sessions (3 on the 4-week, 6 on the 8-week). No surprise add-ons. For behavior modification, aggression, puppy training, and house training, pricing is scoped on the free consultation because the work is customized to the dog.

Do you take aggression and reactivity cases?

Yes. Reactivity, fear, anxiety, separation distress, dog aggression, human aggression, and resource guarding are all in scope. We will be honest with you on the consultation about runway and realistic outcome.

My dog has bitten before. Will you take us?

Yes, that is exactly the kind of case we handle. We will ask about bite history on the consultation so we can plan the right intake and the right safety plan for the household.

What ages do you work with?

Once a puppy is current on basic vaccinations, they are ready for the puppy program. We work with adolescents, adult dogs, and senior dogs as well. Older dogs absolutely can learn, the bottleneck is structure, not age.

Will my dog forget me during the board and train?

No. Dogs come home more bonded, more confident, and ready to work with you. The relationship gets stronger, not weaker.

How will I know what my dog learned?

You get private owner follow-up sessions after the program ends, three for the 4-week, six for the 8-week. The handover is part of the program, not an extra. We teach you the system so you can maintain and extend it at home.

Can I see my dog during the board and train?

We coordinate that on intake. The first portion of the program is heads-down work to establish the new patterns cleanly, and then we bring you in for the handover sessions.

Do you do private one-on-one lessons or group classes?

Private lessons are available for owners who want focused work. Group classes are offered occasionally for socialization and handler practice. The board and train is our flagship format.

What if I have already tried other trainers and nothing held?

Most of our behavior clients have. Bring us the history: what was tried, what worked for a minute, what fell apart. We work from there.

Where are you located?

Based in Upland, CA. We serve Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire. Specific address is shared with enrolled clients.
